Is the Grand Wailea luau worth it?

The Luʻau at Grand Wailea is the big-production resort luau of Wailea, on the lawns of one of Maui’s best-known hotels. It is polished and popular, and it is also the most expensive standard seat in Wailea. Here is the honest breakdown.

What you get

Check-in is around 5:30 PM with seating about 15 minutes later and the show from about 6:15 PM, finishing near 8:30 PM (summer hours). Dinner is three courses served family-style at your own table: recent menus list surf and turf poke, lomi lomi salmon, green papaya salad, Maui cattle sirloin, coconut-lime mahi mahi, shoyu chicken and kalua pig. The open bar covers house cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks. The program includes an imu ceremony, ancient and modern hula, a hula lesson and the Samoan fire knife dance. Around 400 guests attend each show, and there is valet parking.

What it costs in 2026

Standard seating is $300 per adult (13+) and $150 per child (3 to 12); Aliʻi premium seating is $360 and $180, with reserved front tables. Toddlers are free. Those prices are before Hawaii tax and a service charge, so a family of four in standard seats pays well over $900. The Grand Wailea luau is sold direct through the resort, not on Viator.

If you are staying at the Grand Wailea, the convenience is real: dinner, a show and an easy walk back to your room. If you are not, the math favors its neighbors.
